There has actually been some visible progress at chez twiceknit on the unfinished projects front in recent weeks. With any luck, by next weekend, I’ll be hunting for new projects to start. Or maybe I can convince myself to pick up the intarsia scarf again.
However, that scarf is now just many, many, many rows of stockinette. I’m not sure I can bring myself to do that right this moment since I just finished the horribly boring baby blanket that was essentially the same thing, just shorter and wider. It’s happily blocking away and, now that it’s done, I’m quite pleased with it, though I laid the thing out to block with the wrong side up.
- pattern: Big Bad Baby Blanket from the first Stitch ‘n Bitch book
- yarn: Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere
- needles: US size 6
Elephante is also coming along, though still earless. This is primarily because the pattern calls for the ears to be crocheted…and I do not know how to crochet. Rather than wait to figure it out or have someone show me how, I think I’m just going to improvise the ears based on all of the other elephant patterns I’ve made. Now that it’s almost done, I’m quite pleased with it, though this pattern requires quite a bit more finishing than it first appeared.
And finally, Tempest is still lurking in the background. It’s been sewn up for weeks, but the buttonband and I are not getting along. I’ve already completed it once, only to decided I didn’t like the way it looked. I’m currently in the midst of binding off the second attempt, so keep your fingers crossed. I am undecided about whether I’ll do the after-the-fact hem that the pattern calls for. First, I’m unsure why this is necessary. Second, I’m mad at myself for not reading the whole pattern through first and doing the hem the much easier way–casting on with a provisional cast on and taking care of it a few rows in, instead of picking up several hundred stitches and then sewing it on. Decisions, decisions.
And it really is a very pretty red, not this horrible glowing pink. I promise.

I saw you post some pictures at Ravelry before I got all the details here.
Good luck with the button band! I’m going to start the button band on that Maude Louise cardigan as soon as my buttons arrive. Have you decided on what buttons you’ll use for Tempest?
